Welcome to the New Academic Year
I hope you are all well and had some time to unwind and recharge over the summer. As we begin the new academic year, on behalf of the Trust I wanted to take a moment to warmly welcome you back and to express my sincere thanks to those of you who kept things running smoothly during the break.
As you know, I’ve recently moved from my role as COO to CEO of our Trust. I feel incredibly honoured to take on this responsibility, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working alongside such a dedicated and talented group of people. Over the past two years, I’ve seen the incredible commitment each of you brings to our students, schools, and communities, and it’s this dedication that makes our Trust, and all our schools, such a special place to be.
This year, we also welcome new leadership at Nonsuch and Carshalton with the appointment of two new Headteachers. I’m excited about the fresh perspectives and energy they’ll bring, and I have every confidence that they will help foster growth and development within their schools. As a Trust, we’re also planning to take some time to reflect on our overall strategy and plans for the future, beginning with a consultation where all staff will have the chance to share their thoughts. I believe this period of reflection is crucial as we work together to build on our strengths and prepare to meet the needs of our students and communities in the years ahead.
Another priority for this year is improving communication across the Trust. I recognise how important it is to keep everyone informed about what’s happening across the organisation. I’ll be collaborating closely with the new Executive Leadership Team to find better ways to keep you updated and ensure that you feel connected and informed as we move forward. We’re also establishing a wider Trust Leaders’ Network this year, including Deputy and Assistant Headteachers from all schools, to broaden our engagement.
As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the new school year, I’m confident that, together, we can continue to make a positive impact. My focus is on supporting an environment where both students and staff can thrive and ensuring that we provide the best possible education and experience for our students.
I’m looking forward to the year ahead and to working closely with all of you. Please know that I’m here to support you in any way I can, and I’m always happy to hear your thoughts and ideas.
Best wishes
Dr Thomas Flynn
